Welcome

This is the website of the former Suffolk Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust, which merged with Norfolk and Waveney Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust on 1 January 2012 to become Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust.

The Suffolk half of the new Trust provides child and adult mental health services, alcohol treatment, learning disability and eating disorder services across Suffolk and Thetford. We operate from over 60 sites across Suffolk with a Suffolk headquarters at St Clement’s Hospital in Ipswich.

What do we do?

Our mission is to 'help people to make the most of their lives'.

We provide:

  • Mental health services for adults and older people living in Suffolk (excluding Waveney and Thetford)
  • Mental health services for children and adolescents in Suffolk (excluding Waveney)
  • Services for people with learning disabilities in Suffolk including Waveney
  • Substance misuse services (SMS) across Suffolk

We aim to become one of the best health providers in the East of England and one of the top ten mental health trusts in the country.

As a Foundation Trust we will be a public benefit organisation. This means we can invest resources back into the community. If you care about mental well-being, join us at www.newmember.info

Need our help?

The best way to get referred to us is through your GP or general hospital consultant.

If you are experiencing one of the more common problems, such as anxiety or depression, you can now self-refer to IAPT (improving access to psychological therapies) by calling the Ipswich team on 01473 296110 or the Bury team on 01284 733100.

IAPT provides low and high-intensity talking therapies. The Trust also works in partnership with Suffolk Mind, which provides counselling under the IAPT umbrella.

The patient advice and liaison service (PALS) is also here to help. If you have a worry or issue about your care please call PALS on 0800 585544.
